
A Word From Our Winemaker
Greetings, Mumm Napa family!
Spring is on full display here in Napa. The vineyards are lush with new, green growth, flowers are blooming, and the sunshine and longer days draw us outside for shared meals and glasses of sparkling with friends and neighbors. Spring also means bottling season at the winery, when the wines from 2024 will get bottled with a little yeast and sugar for the second fermentation, resulting in the bubbles we all love. The team takes a lot of pride in making sure each blend is bottled with care, ensuring the highest quality sparkling for all of us to enjoy down the road.
I’m excited that we’re releasing two new wines with this shipment. The 2019 Oak Barrel Aged Blanc de Blancs shows the perfect balance between elegance and power and would be a fitting accompaniment to dinner al fresco with friends. The 2020 Blanc de Noirs is a lovely expression of Pinot Noir fruit, great for taking along to a picnic or even enjoying while watching your favorite baseball team play.
For me, spring also means the farmer’s market is filled with a beautiful new selection of produce. You’ll find me there every Saturday morning, new Mumm Napa tote bag in hand, shopping for our weekly meals. It seems I always find something that inspires me to try a new recipe or bring back an old favorite. It’s the perfect place to shop for that dinner al fresco I mentioned. Whatever spring traditions you might have, I hope you’re enjoying the season, and I thank you for being part of our Mumm Napa family.

2019 Limited Edition Oak Barrel Aged Blanc de Blancs
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
Aromas of citrus, grilled bread, toasted oak, and pippin apple pop on the nose. A fine mousse highlights notes of toasted bread and baking spice, supported by a Meyer lemon backbone.

2020 Blanc de Noirs Reserve
Blend: 66% Pinot Noir, 34% Pinot Meunier
This Blanc de Noirs deftly weaves between the powerful and elegant characters of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Bold and vibrant aromas of ripe strawberry, raspberry, orange marmalade, and apricot are accented with toasted brioche notes from more than 3 years on the yeast. On the palate, a frothy mousse leads into notes of stone fruit, strawberry, and a hint of candied orange peel, culminating in a well-structured finish.

Brut Reserve Extended Tirage
Blend: 59% Pinot Noir, 41% Chardonnay
Aromas of freshly baked brioche and spiced apple are complemented by hints of dark cherry, tangerine, honey and almond paste. The palate is rich and creamy with notes of toasted almond, grilled bread, apple and a touch of honey on the finish.

2018 Blanc de Blancs Reserve Extra Brut
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
Aromas of Meyer lemon curd, tangerine, and green apple lead into notes of toasty biscuit and freshly baked brioche. The refined mousse highlights tangerine and apple, along with lovely brioche tones from so much time aging on the yeast. This is an elegant wine with balanced acidity and nice mid-palate weight leading into a long, delicate finish.

2016 DVX
Blend: 52% Pinot Noir, 48% Chardonnay
This wine opens with aromas of toasted bread, lemon curd, strawberry, peach, and roasted hazelnuts. There is nice weight on the attack, and a fine mousse highlights notes of grilled bread, orange zest, toasted hazelnut, fig, and stone fruit. A long, structured finish highlights the toasty autolysis characters of the wine. The 2016 harvest was another early one, with nice, warm days for flavor development. Wines from this vintage are marked by elegance and fine structure. For the 2016 DVX, nine special lots were chosen for the blend. Eleven percent of the blend was fermented in older barrels, contributing beautiful spice accents and rich mouthfeel to the wine.

2017 DVX
Blend: 52% Pinot Noir, 48% Chardonnay
Toasted bread and baking spice aromas are complemented by red apple, Bing cherry, and yellow plum. A fine mousse opens into a creamy mid-palate with notes of grilled bread, red apple, and stone fruit, leading to a long, structured finish.

2017 DVX Rosé
Blend: 51% Pinot Noir, 49% Chardonnay
This wine greets with aromas of yellow peaches, strawberries and cream, juicy orange, and pleasant, toasty notes. The toastiness is evident on the attack and leads to notes of cherry, orange, stone fruit, and strawberry jam. This is a well-structured wine that should age well.

2018 DVX Rosé
Blend: 53% Chardonnay, 47% Pinot Noir
Notes of grilled bread and baking spice greet you on the nose, followed by lovely strawberry, black cherry, red apple, and orange zest aromas. On the palate, a frothy mousse leads into a creamy mid-palate with a pleasant toastiness. Flavors of strawberries and cream and a hint of nectarine carry into the elegant finish.

Maison Mumm RSRV Cuvée 4.5
Blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay
The color is yellow with golden highlights, light and delicate bubbles. The wine is complex, greedy and rich. The first nose is expressed on fresh notes of yellow and white fruits. It opens with fruit marmalade, honey, nougat and vanilla, as well as a hint of roast and mocha. The palate is frank and lively, then gives way to the roundness that settles gradually.

We take pride in our long-standing relationships with our growers, and love that we can share that pride with you through the Grower Series wines. The Ghisletta family came to the United States from Switzerland in the late 1800s and have been farming in Napa for over 100 years, first in dairy and now in wine. Ghisletta Vineyard Chardonnay has been part of Mumm Napa blends for three decades. We’re pleased to release this gorgeous Blanc de Blancs that is a true reflection of place and family tradition.
