A Word From Our Winemaker
Dearest Mumm Napa family,
It’s wintertime in the Napa Valley. The air is crisp, and the hills are carpeted in a lush, vibrant green. The vines stand dormant and neatly pruned, but before we know it, new leaves will burst forth from the buds, the first signs of the new vintage to come. In the winery, February is the start of the bottling season. The team is busy assembling blends and preparing them for their second fermentation in bottle. I love walking in the winery in the morning to the smells of freshly blended wines. It brings a certain brightness to a cold winter day.
Speaking of brightness, it’s prime citrus season in California. Trips to the farmers market yield beautiful grapefruit and zesty limes. Oranges and lemons come from the backyard trees. I love making a salad of sweet citrus and roasted beets to bring color and freshness to a winter day. It’s a lovely pairing with the Brut Reserve Rose Extended Tirage in your shipment this month!
I’m also enjoying our newest chocolate offering, a Blanc de Blancs Milk Chocolate Himalayan Salted Caramel Bar from Anette’s Chocolates. It would make a great gift for your valentine – or do like I’m doing and order an extra for yourself. Sometimes it’s the perfect thing when you want to take a little “me moment.” However, you choose to enjoy your new wines (and chocolate!), I hope they bring joy and inspire new traditions.

Brut Reserve Rosé Extended Tirage
Blend: 56% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier
This wine leads with aromas of bright cherry, ripe strawberry, nectarine, and toasty, grilled bread. On the palate, the soft mousse and creamy mid-palate highlight flavors of cherry, strawberry, and citrus zest leading into a long, toasty finish.
2020 Oak Knoll District Brut
Blend: 85% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay
This wine opens with gorgeous fruit notes of nectarine, yellow plum,
raspberry, orange zest and red apple, complemented by toasty baked bread
aromas. Bright acidity highlights raspberry and red apple flavors on the
palate. The fine mousse leads into a long, elegant, and toasty finish.
2017 DVX Rosé
Blend: 51% Pinot Noir, 49% Chardonnay
This wine greets with aromas of yellow peaches, strawberries and cream, juicy orange, and pleasant, toasty notes. The toastiness is evident on the attack and leads to notes of cherry, orange, stone fruit, and strawberry jam. This is a well-structured wine that should age well.
2016 DVX
Blend: 52% Pinot Noir, 48% Chardonnay
This wine opens with aromas of toasted bread, lemon curd, strawberry, peach, and roasted hazelnuts. There is nice weight on the attack, and a fine mousse highlights notes of grilled bread, orange zest, toasted hazelnut, fig, and stone fruit. A long, structured finish highlights the toasty autolysis characters of the wine. The 2016 harvest was another early one, with nice, warm days for flavor development. Wines from this vintage are marked by elegance and fine structure. For the 2016 DVX, nine special lots were chosen for the blend. Eleven percent of the blend was fermented in older barrels, contributing beautiful spice accents and rich mouthfeel to the wine.
2018 DVX Rosé
Blend: 53% Pinot Noir; 47% Chardonnay
Notes of grilled bread and baking spice greet you on the nose, followed by lovely strawberry, black cherry, red apple, and orange zest aromas. On the palate, a frothy mousse leads into a creamy mid-palate with a pleasant toastiness. Flavors of strawberries and cream and a hint of nectarine carry into the elegant finish.
2017 DVX
Blend: 52% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir
Toasted bread and baking spice aromas are complemented by red apple, Bing cherry, and yellow plum. A fine mousse opens into a creamy mid-palate with notes of grilled bread, red apple, and stone fruit, leading to a long, structured finish.
2019 DVX Rosé
Blend: 52% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir
The beautiful, pale pink color of this wine invites you in to aromas of peach, cherry, mandarin, and toasty biscuit. The palate greets you with a pleasant mousse and creamy mid-palate with notes of peach, red apple, and raspberry. The long, elegant finish closes with a lovely toastiness reflective of nearly 5 years on the yeast.
2018 DVX
Blend: 53% Chardonnay, 47% Pinot Noir
This complex wine has rich aromas of toasted bread, brandied cherries, vanilla, red apple, baking spice, and orange marmalade. The vibrant mousse leads to a creamy mid-palate with notes of toasted bread and roasted nuts, carrying into a long, powerful finish.
2020 Blanc de Noirs Reserve
Blend: 66% Pinot Noir, 34% Pinot Meunier
This Blanc de Noirs deftly weaves between the powerful and elegant characters of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Bold and vibrant aromas of ripe strawberry, raspberry, orange marmalade, and apricot are accented with toasted brioche notes from more than 3 years on the yeast. On the palate, a frothy mousse leads into notes of stone fruit, strawberry, and a hint of candied orange peel, culminating in a well-structured finish.
2018 Blanc de Blancs Reserve Extra Brut
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
Aromas of Meyer lemon curd, tangerine, and green apple lead into notes of toasty biscuit and freshly baked brioche. The refined mousse highlights tangerine and apple, along with lovely brioche tones from so much time aging on the yeast. This is an elegant wine with balanced acidity and nice mid-palate weight leading into a long, delicate finish.
2021 Sparkling Pinot Meunier
Blend: 97% Pinot Meunier, 3% Pinot Noir
Aromas of peach, strawberry, red apple, and juicy orange open into pleasant, yeasty
bread characters. On the palate, a frothy attack leads into a fruity mid-palate with
notes of raspberry, peach and orange and a structured, biscuity finish.
2017 Brut Reserve Extended Tirage
Blend: 55% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier
This wine opens with aromas of grilled bread, cherry, orange, peach, and red apple. On the
palate, rich notes of cherry, grilled peaches, and toast lead to a powerful finish with hints of orange marmalade.
2018 Grower Series Rodgers Vineyards
Blend: 57% Chardonnay, 43% Pinot Noir
This wine opens with notes of berries and cream, zesty orange, red apple, and peach,
with pleasant biscuit note from the yeast aging. On the palate, the frothy mousse complements bright strawberry and apple flavors. A toasty mid-palate leads to a creamy finish with bright acidity.
