Today, Champagne-born master winemaker Ludovic Dervin leads the way, using his international experience to craft balanced, distinctive sparkling wines in the acclaimed Méthode Traditionnelle.
Boasting a thorough understanding of méthode champenoise production, Ludo completed his winemaking studies in his native Champagne, France. His skills were then refined during several harvests with the prestigious Champagne houses Charles Heidseick and G.H. Mumm, as well as California's Piper Sonoma. Prior to joining Mumm Napa, Ludo polished his non-bubbly winemaking skills at the world-renowned Russian River wineries, Hartford Court and Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery.
Making sparkling wine from the highest quality grapes gives me the opportunity to be creative while using time-honored winemaking techniques. My goal is to make a sparkling wine that shows elegance, balance and artistry. It is a way to celebrate life everyday. ”
Tami completed her degree in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, and after interning at Mumm Napa, was fortunate enough to be able to spend a year abroad, working and learning about wine. She worked in Germany, traveled through Australia, and worked in Chile, eventually returning home and to Mumm Napa in 2003. Tami works together with Ludovic Dervin in all aspects of winemaking at Mumm Napa. When not sampling cuvees, Tami enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and a wide variety of outdoor activities, Tami also volunteers with Napa County Wildlife Rescue at their Songbird Clinic.
It’s really difficult to pick a favorite Mumm Napa wine. Every vintage and every blend is different. But Devaux Ranch is a blend that is a true expression of place and of the vintage. It’s a vineyard to which I feel a special connection. ”
