This wine leads with autolysis characters of toasted bread and roasted hazelnuts, but due to recent disgorging, still has a freshness that shows in notes of lemon curd, strawberry jam, and figs.  On the palate, it’s rich and creamy with toasty yeast tones. Red apple and hazelnut notes lead into a long and powerful finish.

2005 was a special vintage that gifted us with powerful wines of great structure and ageability.  Nowhere is this better experienced than with this exceptional release of our Brut Reserve aged seventeen years in magnums.  The extended time on the yeast softened the wine and added multiple layers of complexity.  A wine with this much age needs little assistance, so we’ve chosen a very small dosage and decided to release it as an extra brut to allow an authentic expression of the vintage.

This is a truly special wine.  Part of me wants to sip it on its own with my favorite people and just enjoy the complexity.  It would be lovely with creamy cheeses, grilled meats, or decadent lobster thermidor.  However you enjoy it, make sure you share it with treasured friends and family.
