In 2017, we selected an elegant Chardonnay from Sunset Vineyard in Carneros. Raymond and Mary Beth Reyes first signed a planting contract with our founder Guy Devaux in 1989, and their vines have been producing beautiful, expressive fruit for our cuvees ever since.
Overview
This wine has a beautiful elegance. The nose shows dominant notes of ripe Meyer lemon and toasted brioche, complemented by a Fuji apple sweetness and hints of golden raspberry and toasted hazelnut. It opens with a delicate mousse and bright, yet balanced acidity. Flavors of citrus, apple, and toasted bread lead into a long and graceful finish.
Occasion
This delicate and elegant wine would pair best with lighter fare. Oysters would be a classic match, as would halibut. It would also be delicious with a quiche packed with fresh spring herbs and a bit of goat cheese.
