Jim Marshall is widely known for his iconic music photography, celebrated as the first and only photographer to receive the Recording Academy's Trustee Award in addition to an honorary Grammy. From the 1950s to early 2000s, Marshall created an unprecedented chronicle of the music industry with a lasting estate of more than one million images.
On display at Mumm Napa is a collection of 40 original photographs by Marshall, curated by longtime friend, Carlos Santana. The two met in 1965, and on display are iconic images of Santana himself and some of his favorite musician mentors and music influences.
The exhibit was curated to show Jim’s genius as a photographer, a chronicler of history, and portraitist of no equal. “Jim Marshall Seen through the Eyes of Carlos Santana” is on display Nov. 21 through May 2016.
All photography in the exhibit is represented by SAN FRANCISCO ART EXCHANGE (SFAE). www.sfae.com
